Photography's in the blood |
Paul comes from a family where photography has always been in the blood.
Paul’s father Alan was his inspiration, Alan, a superb photographer made sure
that Paul and his brother Stephen were never far away from a camera.
The family connection continues to this day as Paul works in the family business in Leeds.
Dale Photographic was set up by Paul’s father in 1984, and has since turned into a
leading dealer of specialist equipment to a global market.
What makes Dale Photographic special is that as all of the team are renowned
photographers in their own right, they can advise clients better than most,
as they have used the products at the sharp end.

A career from photography |
On leaving school, Paul decided that a career in photography was for him.
With support from his parents, Paul went to College in Leeds and then onto
Plymouth to study for his HND.
On leaving Plymouth he went to work in London for a large photography company,
but found that London Life was not for him.
Leaving London he joined his older brother Stephen in Leeds at the famous
photography firm of "Hickes" . Paul undertook assignments covering football
matches and news events over a number of years for them.
Indeed it was at this time Paul won a coveted award for press photographers.

The future develops |
After a number of exiting and successful years at Hickes, Paul decided that
he would like to do what he had always wanted to do.
Paul left to work part time at Dale Photographic and
part time on his own photography projects.

Yorkshire and Paul |
Paul has always been drawn back to Yorkshire and its landscape.
Yorkshire is like no other county in England, its geology is unique, the charter of
the people is unique and of course as every Yorkshire Man and Woman knows...
its weather is most definitely unique!
What ever it is about Yorkshire though, its the indefinable about it, that Paul has strived to capture
through the lens.

Yorkshire and People |
With the world becoming smaller (air travel, cars etc) Paul's pictures are now
gaining a wider exposure, as international picture editors scour the
world for "that image".
We hope that this site is a gateway to the quintessential "Paul Ridsdale".
